I have bought a K8098 kit and there is no display the back lighting on the LCD works but that is it,
I checked the current drain and its 500 mha and the booklet say’s it’s should be 75 mha, can any onehelp me with this please, I removed the micro controller chip from the board and the current drain went down to 35 mha, can any one shed some light on this for me,

I have also bought a K8098 kit.
Same issue! Back light on LCD is working but nothing else!
I already checked all resistors, capacitors but could not find any mistakes…
The soldering should be also okay…
Regarding the LCD PCB…! I would like to criticize the golden soldering joints… was difficult to get tin solder on it!
So I used solder flux to get better soldering.
Whats about the front panel and the diagonal bolts!? Between the bolt pads and the GND there is no connection! Is it right!?
I will upload my pictures of the K8098 kit…

Hello, I too am having a backlight only problem. I have checked for solder problems under a scope and no problems found. There is a velleman s/n 1035382 inside the cover. Is this a known problem? Please advise.
