I have also bought a K8098 kit.
Same issue! Back light on LCD is working but nothing else!
I already checked all resistors, capacitors but could not find any mistakes…
The soldering should be also okay…
I will upload my pictures of the K8098 kit…
May be someone can help!?

You might check the soldering on the 18-pin connector. It looks like you may have some bridged pins there.

unfortunately it’s the long pins that look like bridges.
