I’ve just built my K8090 relay board, it works fine under Windows XP.
However, I need to run it under Windows 98 SE, is there a chance? I wasn’t able to install the device driver, and also the demo application doesn’t work. Does anybody have a K8090 driver for Windows 98?
I need to use Win98, because I have my own software for driving the CNC milling machine, and it requires the direct access to LPT port. The relay board will be switching some additional devices such as coolant pump, gearbox clutches etc. I’m able to switch some relays through LPT, but I haven’t enough pins left. That’s why I’m trying to switch the relays using USB.
Then open Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc), go to the uninstalled com port. Right click it and select Update Driver. Then navigate to the location where you put the new inf file.
Thank you very much, although I still wasn’t successful. I tried to “tune up” the INF file (some info can be found at wd-3.com/archive/inffiles.htm ), but no way The problem is that Win98 device manager always says just “failed”, but does not say what exactly is wrong or missing in the INF file.
If anyone tries to install K8090 on Win98, I would be glad for any piece of knowledge.
