What could be my problem with the serial connection between my K8076 programmer and my PC running XP. The PC doesn’t think the programmer is connected.
Unfortunately Velleman does not allow pictures to be posted up here.
However if you could post some clear top and bottom pictures on a free picture hosting website and put the link up here everyone can look at them.

You have a real serial connection and not a USB->serial converter? Most of these don’t work well with the K8076 …
