Hi I built the K8076, made up the serial cable with pin 6 unconnected ( I buzzed it out to make sure there no shorts and there was continuity), loaded the pic program 2006 connected the programmer to the serial port on my system powered up ran the program in which I set the programmer type and the coms side was already set to coms 1and the green power up led is lit but when I open up the programmer board graphic to check the leds in the black section at the bottom it states that there is no velleman programmer connected no matter what I do,Im running windows 7 so I dont know if thats the problem 
but any help would be most appreciated .
