I’am using during several years the PIC programmer K8076 without any problems.
Now the programmer doesn’t work anymore.
I always get the message ‘There is no Velleman programmer connected to the pc’.
When I use the test programm in the programmer’s test file (Run hardware datalines test), all the LED’s on programmer lit on like it has to be.
When I click on the red or yellow LED symbols, they also lit.
During the test programm I don’t get any error messages.
So I suppose that the connection between pc and programmer is ok.
I haven’t changed pc (I’m using this laptop for over 2 years)
The cable isn’t a problem (I have tried another one)
The supply voltage is 16V (regulated power supply)
I am using a USB to serial converter (with a break-out board and some electronics I have made myself) - this is in use during 2 years and has never give any problems. So I don’t think the converter is the problem because it has been working correctly during 2 years and the hardware tests from PicProg are working correctly.
I am using a PIC 16F628A (I have tried 3 pieces and all of them give the same problem)
Normally, this kit does not work reliably with a USB to serial converter.
Sorry, if it has worked for years and now it does not, something must have changed.
I’m sure you’ll understand that for us it is almost impossible to determine what has changed.
Most likely it has a mechanical cause (bad/loose/intermittent contact, etc…)
If you want, you can return the kit for inspection/repair.
The message pops up, when Picprog 2009 doesn’t get an expected return signal from the read/verify
data line soon enough, ( bad timing ), or if it doesn’t get it at all, ( bad connection ).
