K8072 - Relay Power problem

Hi, was wondering if any one can help

I put together the DMX CONTROLLED RELAY.
Hook it all up,
And when it receives the correct DMX Value the relay alternates between on and off continually with the error LED flashing on and off at the same time.
basically the relay isn’t holding.

it is connected to a 2w 12v solenoid.

i have tried every combination possible to try to eliminate the problem Jumper 1, Jumper 2, DMX Channel.

Cheers

Does it work correctly without the solenoid connected?

Yes it does which made me think there could be a polarity issue,
but i switched around and the same thing happens.

connected up straight to 12v supply and the solenoid works fine.

i just hook up a 12v LED bar 0.117A load (amp meter) and it worked.

Tried hooking up both the solenoid and LED bar in parallel to see what happens both the solenoid and LED bar click/ go on and off as before

could this be the load issue or maybe induction problem

any thoughts?

It sounds like the solenoid is interferingwith the relay.

You may want to look at a snubber network.
You can seach google.

Solved the Problem,

The power supply was too small Current wise.

I don’t believe the Solenoid is 2W either, and the power supply was unregulated.

If i was to take a stab in the dark i would say, as the relay closed the power draw from the solenoid caused a volt drop and the Circuit board loss power and opened the relay, when it opened the relay the voltage raised back to 12v which starting the sequence again and again.

that’s just taking a guess though.

But its works which is good.
