K8064 DC Controlled Dimmer Noise and PWM Control

Hi,
I have assembled and tested the K8064 kit and it worked 1st time!

Question;
When I run the dimmer to lower settings it tends to make a noise?
It goes away from about 60% onwards.
I noticed that the Inductor windings were a bit loose,
and it appears to be little unstable in fitting
Can these be silicone’d to get rid of the noise and increase the stability?

can I use a digital PWM waveform instead of 0 - 5 volts analogue?

thank you.

ps. I am impressed with the sequence of construction!

The noise is normal, this is the 50Hz from the coil.
You can only reduce this a little.

You can use a PWM signal if you add a low-pass filer. (We use it in our K8055, see schematic)
This will convert the PWM to 0…5/10V.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.
I looked at the circuit, k8055.

The PWM Outputs are driven via the Transistor, but do you mean the 100k and 100n to gnd as the low pass filter?

And do I need the Transistor as the the opto is similar inputs?
