K8063 as a pc system clock

We would like to use a number of K8063 kits in ongoing and future speech recording projects to replace a type of 6 digit double sided desk clock which has been discontinued (i.e. 6 kits per clock). I had hoped that it would simply work when connected but unfortunately this is not the case. I have matched the port settings to your specification and set digit 1 as address1, digit 2 address 2 etc. Below is a snapshot of the RS232 output from the recording software when in use (it is designed to simply show the system time on the clock while it is recording) taken using HyperTerminal. Have you any ideas what we might be doing wrong?

I’m sorry, but the supplied info does not allow us to help you.
Please download the demo software in order to determine if your units work correctly.
Next, if they do, study the source code of the demo software, it will show you how to send data to the units.

Hi. We dont have access to the source code from the software developers, and this is the code we MUST work with. I take it there is no other advice you can give to allow us to use your clocks? Is there other information we could supply other than the HyperTerminal output?

Please note that the K8063 uses a custom protocol. Your software must be written for the K8063 otherwise it will not work.

Thanks for that. We do have our own software developer, I will look into the possibility of hacking the code or writing some sort of protocol conversion. Thanks again
