K8062 USB to DMX issues

Hi,

this is my first foray into Velleman products so bear wit me.

I bought and assembled the K8062, relatively painless, but on connecting to my laptop it doesn’t appear to be doing what it should.

The power light is on and constant.

The DMX light flashes 3 times on connection.

The DMX light flashes constantly when Demo is run.

Upon checking the DMX out with a multi meter 1-2 fluctuate between 3.4/3.5
1-3 is a constant 4.2
2-3 has a fluctuation between 0.7and 0.8 (This is where I imagine my problems lay)

When I plug an LED lamp in the light comes on, does what it feel like then, goes off.

Obviously there is some signal coming through the DMX output, but not what I need.

In another post someone mentioned different readings from the pins, but the OP then figured out the problem and didn’t let anyone in on the fix.

Could anyone offer a solution?

As a final ditch attempt I thought, maybe I have the DMX connector backwards… it appears I did.

Hello Phil, I have bought and assembled the same kit for my son and got the same symptoms. Did you get your kit working with a PC ? and if so how did you do it ?
Also it was very confusing as to which way round to solder the DMX connector pin on the board - I resorted to looking at the picture on the front cover, but it should have been explained in the instructions. They were very clear about polarity of diodes etc but not the orientation of this connector.
