K8062 IC Issue

Hi,

Just soldered this kit together last night, but have not yet put the IC chips in.

Woke up this morning and tried putting the IC Chips in the sockets, the largest one went in fine, had a little circle on the end indicating which way round to put the chip in. Then I tried putting in the smaller chip, but guess what!? No circle indicating which way round the IC should go. I’ve looked at the colour picture on the box and cannot work out which way the IC should go.

Now on the smaller IC, there is a black dot on a particular end of the chip under the writting, does this indicate pin 1 as mentioned in the manual, or is this just a plastic machine issue??

So in other words, its all go apart from which way round the chip should go. Can anyone post a picture as to which way round the IC should go? At the moment I have it so that the text is able to read if you have the USB port on the right if holding the PCB up in your hand.

Please can someone help, this is a serious design fault and there is no circle on the IC to indicate where it should go.

Many thanks in advance,
Adam

Sometimes, the notch is replaced by a dot.
Dot indicates pin 1

Hint: If you hold the IC so that you can read the text printed on the body, then pin 1 is on the bottom left hand side.
