I have just started using the K8061 having previously used the K8055.
I installed the card on my PC (which runs XP Professional) then ran my software using the K8061.dll driver. It did not work but then I found I needed mpusbapi.dll as well then everything worked OK.
I then tried to use the K8061_C.dll but gut the “No WINUSB support…” error. Reading notes in this forum, I realised that I needed to install new drivers. (from k8061_vistapack_2007v1.zip) After that however, calling “OpenDevice” causes an “Address out of range” error and crashes my programme.
Even worse, I then uninstalled the card and re-installed it using the drivers supplied on the CD ROM and now the K8061.dll does not work either - when my programme calls “OpenDevice”, it returns -2 (No card present) The utility suppied by Velleman also reports “No Card”.
LED 12 (USB Present) is glowing steadily on the card. (It flashes when I uninstall the card)
Device manager reports driver version 6.0.1.0, date 22/5/2007
I am now desperate - I have un-installed and re-installed the card many times, rebooted my machine, tried all the utilities NOTHING COMMUNICATES TO THE CARD ANYMORE!!!
how can I roll back to the old driver? Device manager uninstalls the device, but when I point it at the original drivers, it obviously realises that the driver I am trying to install is an older version and it “pretends” to install it but actually does not.
I also tried to run the K8061_C.exe by double clicking on it but it does not run. How do I run this please?
Many thanks for the suggestions - the system restore seemed a bit drastic, but I did it and I now have the card working again using the K8061.dll. But I still want the _C.dll to work! I now notice that LED12 does NOT glow steadily - it blinks! Does this mean that the fault lies with the Vista drivers set.
Bearing in mind that I am using XP. is there an XP driver set for the _C.dll?
Sorry! I should have been more specific: when I “Open” the card, it does work exactly as you say - LED 12 only blinks before the card is “Opened”. What I meant to say was that with the “Vista” drivers, the RUN LED was constantly illuminated - even before the card was opened.
My single K8061 card works fine provided I only plug it into the same USB port.
I have the problem that if I plug it into any other than the original USB port, or try to plug it in via a USB hub or via a USB line amplifier the card does not respond and Windows comes up with a “Found new hardware” dialogue.
If I try to install the drivers, the driver installation program crashes, every time, consistently. If I leave it to time-out then if comes up with the “Windows could not install your hardware” dialogue.
Trying to uninstall the drivers still makes no difference.
This effectively means that I can only plug in a single card. I need seven cards for my application and therefore I am in trouble.
It seems that you have to try to remove the K8061 drivers completely from your PC.
It is not easy task indeed.
After removing you may again try to load the original K8061 driver from CD. You can’t use the Vistapack driver if you don’t have XP SP2 installed.
How to remove the drivers:
Go to Google and type in “remove drivers from xp” without the quotes.
You’ll find some instructions how you can try to remove the driver.
The LED 12 on my board blinks when i have only the external power source connected.
When I connect my laptop also, it stops blinking and lights up constant.
The test program does not reveal any malfunctioning and installing the driver went smooth.
My card behaves exactly as yours. But I think the drivers are a disaster. I have successfully installed a single card for test purposes and that is fine. But now, I wish to run three cards from my machine but as as soon as I plug in the cards via a USB splitter nothing works. Also, If I plug in the card to a different USB slot it does not work. Do you have the same problem???
If you try to uninstall the device using Windows, nothing is changed. I am told I have to “manually remove the drivers”. This is VERY BAD software I think - I understand that the USB protocol means “Plug and Play” - not in the case of VM 140 it does not. I am a VERY unhappy customer.
