I have been able to use the demo program without any problem until I close the program then reopen it and try to reconnect. Once the program closes the “run” LED starts to flash and the “USB” LED goes off. From this point the only way to get communication again is to remove the USB lead and plug it back in.
It seems like the program turns off the USB port for some reason.
I have found out that if I use the dll from the vistapack (created 04/07/09) the program will not find any cards, however if I use the dll from the test programs DEM08061 or DIA8061 (created 16/11/05) the card is found and works correctly until closed and reopened.
I have a problem updating the usb driver on vista. When I try and install from the K8061.inf file from the driver dircetory of the vistapack I get an error “The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation”.
I have tried the same set of files on another laptop I have with XP on and that works perfectly, so thanks for that, but my main machine is running vista and just won’t play ball.
I know this is more of a windows problem than a K8061 problem but any help will stop me pulling the plugs out every time I want to retest the program I’m writing.
It seems that in Vista you have to go to Device Manager to update the driver.
The old driver have to be first removed.
In device manager locate the K8061 USB Interface Board.
Double click it and select Driver tab.
Click Uninstall.
Check the check box “Delete the driver software for this device” and click OK
Unplug and plug the K8061 and then install the new driver.
If no “wizard” appears you have to go the Device Manager to install (update) the driver.
In the Device manager go to location “Other devices” to find the K8061 with yellow exclamation mark (see image below).
Double click, select Driver tab and click Update diver button and locate the new driver folder.
Vista is clever, it uninstalls only the last driver installation: If it finds an older installed driver for the K8061 it automatically installs it.
In this case you have to repeat the uninstall procedure before you can install the new driver.
