Is it possible to run this board from usb, using only 5 v analog out. Or are there other parts that require the higher voltage?. What is the maximum current the kit needs, more than 500 ma ?
The analog section (Op-Amps) need 12V. Can’t operate properly using 5V.
The current consumption is less than 500mA.
I have the K8061 card. On both my desktops it works great. When I try to use it on a laptop, I tryed all 3 laptops, I get device cannot start code 10 and windows tells me the device did not work. I have both Vista and XP sp2. Any suggestions? Oh my k8055 card works fine on all computers.

You may try the new software and driver.
It is available on the Velleman downloads site.
The file name is:
k8061_vistapack_2007v1.zip
You can use this software package with Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Code for VB6, VB.NET,VB express edition 2005, Borland C++ builder, Visual C++, VC6, VC2005, Delphi.
Yes I installed the new software from the k8061_vistapack_2007v1.zip
and still the same issue. I also tryed connecting it to a powerd hub and still the same issue. Don’t know where to go from here but I really need this card to work on my laptops.

Did you install (or update) the new driver from this package.
See the Readme.txt for more details.
Here is a detail of what I have done.
I installed the driver from the cd that came with the kit on XP SP2 on laptop #1. The same way I did it on the desktop. I got an error on the laptop code 10 device cannot start. I then went into device manager and under the group Other Devices the card had a yellow exclamation mark. I did an update driver and installed the driver from the new vista pack. I got the same error now this time the card is showing up under the usb controllers section of the hardware manager same exclamation mark. I then grabbed laptop #2 running Vista, all patched and had the same error this time though when I installed the usb drivers I used the driver from the vista pack. I was able to get both led’s (Power On, USB – 17,18) on the card to work by manually setting the winUSB.sys to start on boot, however when I tried the sample software to connect the software said no card found. My settings are a1-a3 are on, thus channel 1. Then the second usb light went out. When I unplug the usb cable and plug it back in the device fails and the Hardware manager reports no driver installed, if I again do update driver the hardware manager reports the best driver already installed. Some times in the device manager the card shows as ‘unknown device’. I used some driver manager software to remove all the drivers and started from scratch, I as well tried different usb ports. This seems to be common on all 3 of my laptops, 1 old and 2 new, yet on my 2 desktop computers there was no issues.
