K8061 Power Supply Unit

Hi @ll,

I have the K8061 to read an analog Signal.
If I supply the K8061 with a stabilized Power Supply Unit 12 V than I I have an unstable analog Channel Signal going up and down about 20 bits.
If I Connect my Laptop Power Supply (I Just tried it:)) ) 19 V than the Signal is quite Stable.
Why does the 12 V Power Supply do not work???
Can it be that this does have an influence on my Signal???

Greedings

The specs of the K8061 ask for an unregulated 12V power supply, which means 15V regulated.

I didn’t check the schematics, but I assume the K8061 has its own power regulators on board. If you don’t provide at least 15V, then they cannot maintain 12V internally on the board and you experience those fluctuations.

OK. Thank You.

Never heard about this before. Where can i get information about this Phaenomen?

It has been discussed right here on this forum numerous times. Usually in connection with PIC programmers.

Today i bought an Universal Power Supply Unit for Laptops with different types of Voltages.
I tested 16, 18.5 and 19 V and still an unstable System.
When I use the original ASUS Notebook than the Signal is stable.?!?!?!

Most likely there is a problem due to the fact that both the PC and the card are fed with an SMPSU.
In some cases, depending on the construction of the PSU’s, there can be some sort of capacitive coupling trough the AC grid, which causes interference. Most likely, using a classic wire-wound 12V unregulated power supply will solve the problem.
If the PC is a laptop, try running it from its battery, most likely it will then work fine with the supply you bought.
