Hello everyone
Ive built the K8060 amplifier, but Im having problems with it.
I have used different transformers but fuses keep blowing when I turn it on. (on both primary and secondary side)
Can I use a transformer with center tapped coil so it would make 2*30v or do it have to be 2 different windings?
I already tried to connect different transformers differently (but with precaution off course)
What to do?
If I need to me more specific, feel free to ask questions!
You can use a center tapped transformer, that is not a problem.
Did you perform the lightbulb test?
Check your power transistors, most likely they are swapped.
The powertransistors aren’t swapped for sure. Well they are mounted as said on the PCB and in the book so i assume thats fine.
What’s the deal with the lightbulb test? Does it act like a fuse or what? I really don’t get the picture.
So you did not perform the lightbulb test as described in the manual.
Most likely, a number of semiconductors are defective due to the high currents that have flown.
We suggest to replace all transistors. Another option is to return the board for inspection/repair.
No I did not. I don’t really understand the principle of the test so I didn’t do it.
Later I discovered I had to isolate the transistors from the heatsink which I hadn’t done in the first place. later without the heatsink attached the same problem occured so i think replacement is the best option?
By replacing ALL transistors you mean ALL transistors or just the power transistors?
Could you tell me what the lightbulb test actually is for?
Thanks!
The lightbulb limits the current when the amp is plugged-in for the first time.
If something is wrong, the current will be limited, so that the components are not damaged.
We usually replace ALL transistors, just in case.
