I am about to start a research project that involves mutliple usb interface cards with data acqusition and control. The K8055 card is ideal for the purpose, at a reasonable cost. The limitation is that is will only stack with a maximum of 4 cards.
Is it possible to stack a higher number of cards (we will need probably about 40 in number), such that they can be individually addressed. If so how can it be done?
This is only possible if you change the firmware, but then you loose 5 bits (input pins) only for addressing the card or you have to hardcode the address in the firmware.
Using the K8061 the firmware modification may be easier than with the K8055: No need to hardcode the address or to add the address coding jumper IOs. You may program the new address to the internal EEPROM using the interface software.
Anyhow, this feature is missing from the current firmware.
