K8055 (P8055-1) and Windows 8.1

Please accept my apologies if this is already answered elsewhere, however, are there any drivers that will allow me to use my K8055 with Windows 8.1.

I understand there is an updated board that has newer PIC USB device, but would like to continue using my 2003 P8055-1 if possible.

Thanks

The K8055 works fine with the Windows 8.1 too.
You can download the latest DLL for the K8055 from this page: velleman.eu/support/download … 8055&type=
Download the “Complete SDK Pack (Rev 4.0)”.

You may also use the latest K8055N DLL for the K8055 too.

Hi - thank-you for the quick response.

The reason for my question is that I can not “connect” to the K8055 under Windows 8.1. The device manager shows an exclamation mark alongside the K8055 USB device when it is plugged in, and I receive a message in the Windows toolbar saying that there was an error finding suitable driver.

Note that the board works perfectly under my friends Windows Vista, but going back to an earlier version of Windows is not an option for me.

Kindest regards.

Hi,

The K8055 (N) should show up as an HID Device.

Have you done all of the windows updates?

Does the LED LD8 do two blinks and then stay on when the board is plugged in?
This indicates that the PC has not successfully installed the HID driver for the K8055 card.

You may download the USBView or UsbTreeView and compare the results with the results in this thread:

See especially the last post (UsbTreeView result).
Do you see there: “Driver : C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\hidusb.sys” ?

Please see also this thread for other possible solutions:

One solution may be to use an external USB HUB:

An external powered USB hub has helped and I can now continue to use my K8055.

Thank-you for your help and support.
