Have been running a K8055, data logging on an ancient Sony Vaio laptop running Win 98 - taking inputs from my central heating. No problems. Do development on an XP machine Closed the loop to control the heating system. Fine on XP machine but the old machine will not operate the digital outputs. The supplied test program cannot do it either (digital and analogue inputs OK). Are there Win98 drivers gathering dust somewhere? If drivers are the problem of course.
Maybe you must update your HID driver, in Win98 there were not build-in.
Have searched ‘HID’ and as far as I can see the driver is provided by the supplier of the device attached via USB. Does the K8055 software include the drivers? And are there different drivers for Input and Output?
No, the driver for the K8055 (VM110) is a microsoft driver, called HID (Human Interface device).
Search for the latest version that they made for Win98 and it will work fine.
Attn! Your Win98 must be an SE version, the 1st version of Win98 doesn’t support USB.
We have included these update at our Kitsoft3 CD.
I will try to mail you a copy.
