My K8055 has been working great, I accidently hooked up a 24VAC cource to 1 analog input, I realised my mistake and prompty removed it.
Although now its not powering up at all, any ideas what part/s I might need to change to get it working again?
I did see a little smoke come off some component but not sure which one it was.
Thanks for the reply, I’ve tried on a different pc but it still doesn’t work, no led lights up at all.
I’ll try removing the ic, should I try power it up with that ic removed?
I’ll try removing the ic, should I try power it up with that ic removed?
Yes.
If no help then you have to remove all the ICs and try if the power LED turns on.
If still off, then there is some trace damaged on the K8055 board or the USB cable is broken.
Please check the bottom side of the board. - Are there any damages (burned traces etc.).
Have you tried with other USB cable?
I think the usb cable might also be damaged, Ive tried with another cable, IC1 removed and the LD11 flashed 3-4 times when plugged in, and thats all it does.
Now each time I remove and reconnect the USB it doesnt always flash, maybe every 4th time I try and reconnect it does that led flash. I know this cable works as it was connected to my printer.
There may be bad contact with the USB connector of the K8055.
Please check all the solder joints of the USB connector - especially the GND and the +5V terminals.
If you have a multimeter you can check the +5V on the K8055 board.
I’m seeing 4.05v on the USB connector, note this is on another computer
Is the power LED LD11 lit when the K8055 is connected to this computer?
If not - then check there is +5V between the +5V trace and the GND on the K8055 board.
What do you get if you measure between pin 20 (VDD) and 19 (GND) of IC3 ?
You may use also any GND terminal of the analog or digital input/output connector as the GND reference.
Im getting error messages in windows saying a USB device has exceeded the power output on the usb hub.
I’ll have to find an alternative 5vDC power supply before I can do any more testing
edit
Found a USB Powered hub, it looks like PIN 20 on IC3 “may” be damaged its a little hard to tell, but I can see a small difference compared with the other pins.
Could this be the cause of the problem? If so do you sell the spare parts? I dont have a pic programmer.
