K8055 fried IC

Greetings,

I just recently fried the ULN2803AG IC on the digital out side of my K8055 board.
I allready mailed my Velleman dealer if he could order spare parts, but I want to work on my project.

It has come to my attention that the digital in side of the board also has an ULN2803AG IC.
I was wondering if I could use place this IC in the digital out socket to be able to use the digital out sockets, since I don’t need a digital in at this time.
Is it safe to assume that only this IC is busted, and the rest of my board is still fine (I don’t want to blow the digital in IC aswell)?
If this is possible I can order my part and work on my project and replace the digital in IC when it arrives!

Any advice?

If the PIC micro IC3 and the digital output indicator LEDs work OK then most propably only the transistor array IC4 is fried.
You can safely replace the IC4 with the other ULN2803.
The IC4 can only be damaged by connection too high voltage or too high current to its output.

Greetings,

All of the digital out LED’s still function correctly, so I’m safe there.
Luckily for me, my Velleman distributor had the ULN2803AG stocked, so I’ve allready got a new one.

Thanks for the help!

If you havn’t established why you fried th IC you should address that issue before any mor experiments.
