K8055 Capacitor replacement

Hi,

I have had a K8055 kit sitting in the loft for a couple of years and am just getting around to building it!!!

When I counted the parts I find that the 220nF/~50V capacitor is missing. Does anyone know of a supplier I can obtain one from?

Thanks

Chris

The place where you bought the kit would be a good location to look for parts…

I’m sure it would but unfortunately I have no idea where it came from! Just can’t remember.

I will do some searching for a UK supplier of the kit though.

Hi,

Have a look at Maplins…

maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=42857

Enjoy…

Thanks for that - now I come to think of it maybe that is where it came from in the first place. They certainly sell the board but I just don’t know what to search for as a replacement part.

If I search for ‘Capacitor’ it finds so many I don’t know what to look for. If I search for the 220nF then none are found.

Does anyone know what type I need? I mean whether it is a Metallised Polypropylene Capacitor, or a Mylar Film Capacitor or, etc, etc?

The capacitor type is: “Multilayer Ceramic Dipped Radial Capacitor”.
You can also just search for “Ceramic Capacitor”.
Here a datasheet as an example:
vishay.com/docs/45175/mkseries.pdf

Here you can find one example: maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=297
Use the scrollbar next to the capacitor image to find 0.22uF (RA50E).

That is VERY helpful thank you.
