K8055 and Peter Electronic VFD

Hello!

I’ve successfully connected an Analog output of the K8055 to an Analog Input of a Peter Electronic Versidrive i E2 (connected the GND to “0 Volt” and the analog out to “Analog Input”). The Analog Input on the VFD requires 10 Volts, but there’s a scaling factor in the VFD and I’ve set it to 200% - works perfectly.

Now, I’d also need to control one of the Digital INPUTS of the VFD, however, I guess I’m out of luck there if I want to connect it directly.

The digital inputs on the VFD want to be connected to the internal +24 V - the wiring diagram shows “Digital Input 1”, “Digital Input 2” etc., with switches connecting to “24V User Out”.

I guess this can’t be switched with the open collector outputs of the K8055? Especially as they’re NPN…

First you should check the resistance between the digital input and the “User ground connected terminal” 7.

Then you have to put low enough “pull-up” resistor between the digital input and the “+24V User Output” terminal to get the voltage to the digital input to the “Logic 1” input voltage range, i.e. above 8V.

Now you can control this digital input by connecting it to the digital output terminal of the K8055.
Connect the K8055 terminal GND to the “User ground connected terminal” 7.

I used this manual as a reference: peter-electronic.com/uploads … _E2_GB.pdf

Wow, thanks for your fast reply and taking the time to read the VFD’s documentation!

So, we kind of “trick” the digital input by inverting the whole story… I think I understand
