K8048 / VM111 and Windows 7

Hi,

I’m getting ready to build another machine.

I would like to know if anyone has used the K8048 / VM111 with Windows 7 32bit or 64bit.
The mother board I have selected does have a built in RS232 port so I know that will not be a problem.

Thanks.

Communication via RS232 is consistent regardless of operating system, so really this is a matter of whether the software will work on windows 7. If it doesn’t, get software which will. Either way, you should have no problem using the device if you have an RS232 port.

Giftiger,

Thanks for the reply.

But this did not answer the question.

I would like to know if anyone has used the K8048 /VM111 on Windows 7 32bit or 64bit.
Maybe the Velleman group would know if the PICPROG2009 will work on Windows 7.

If you’re not asking if the K8048 / VM111 can be used on windows 7, I’m not sure I see the point in the question. The device can be used with any device which has an RS232 port, given the right software. To answer your question directly then, yes: the programmer has been used with windows 7. Did you have a more specific question regarding how it can be used on windows 7, or will that suffice?

Giftiger,

Thanks once again.
But this is not the answer I am looking for.

I would like to know if anyone has used PICPROG2009 on Windows 7.

A simple Yes I have used it and it works or No I have tried it and it does not work.

Please don’t use unnecessary coloring in your posts unless it serves a purpose

I misread your post, so I removed my previous reply to avoid any confusion. My colleagues will have to answer this one. Did you take a look at our PICKIT2 yet? I’m a software developer myself with limited knowledge on electronics, but it’s my personal favorite.

VEL488,

Unfortunately the PICKIT2 is not avaliable in the USA.

Right now I am just learning about PIC chips and have been changing the example that was supplied with the K8048 plus reading about the different projects that everyone else is doing with their kits.

If the PICPROG2009 will work with Win7 that would be great.
If not I will keep XP around for this and other projects.

I hope to get an answer.
If not I guess I will just have to try it when I finish the machine.

I hope you have a great weekend and that you for your time.

Thanks

Hello Wrong Way
I have just connected my VM111 board to my PC.
I use windows7 64bit.
The first try was good. I did erase the PIC16F627 and wrote demo2 into it.
And it works.
This is my first step into the PIC programming world.
