I bought, assembled and tested the k8045kit
But like almost everybody i cannot program any message in the board due to the error about the com ports. I have no pc with com ports so what Do i have to do, I already bought the USB tot rs232 converter.
Pls somebody help me the brochure saids it was easy But i had Notting else then problems with this kit.

What does the error say?
What COM port is your USB to serial port adapter set to?
Can you change it to Com 1 or Com 2?

Sorry i really don’t know how to change the com ports. But i dont have any com port on my pc. I have à USB in my pc and that goes to à rs232 connector
The error says: run time error text proprty is read only

You will need to change the addressing for the USB to Serial adapter to Com 1 or Com 2
If you don’t know how to do this you should contact the manuafacture of this device for the proceedure.

I used the velleman cable so maybe there is someone here on the forum that already did this?

What’s the part number of the cable?

The 5 row 2nd cable the one with the blue connrctors
On the box there is no serial

thanks for the help.
i was able to config the usb tot RS232 cable, intstall the software.
but now I have an other problem.
when I press “send message to K8045” it loads for aprox. 3 minutes.
and when i want to display my messages nothing comes on the screen except the standard numbers which were already in.

In the instructions on Step 26
It says breifly press SW2 “PROG” to enter programming mode.
The display shows “INPUT1…9/S/Q :” and a flasshing cursor.
Did you press SW2 did the display show this?
