I am unable to get the message editing software to run on my Windows Vista laptop. When I attempt to start the programme I get an error message:
"Run-timeerror 383
‘Text’ property is read only
OK"
I seek advice about how to overcome this problem.
Either the PC has no COM-port, it is used by another device, it is not working properly or it is not called COM1 or COM2
Please check in the device manager.

The laptop has 4 USB ports but none are named as COM 1 or COM2 in device manager. I have to conclude that it will be unable to run the editing software.
You will have to rename them to either COM1 or COM2
