Hi, I have ordered and assembled the K8045 Programmable Message Board Kit and it is working Correctly.
I have been trying to create an open collector circuit to trigger the inputs.
But when i connect it up, nothing happens and the Idle message stays on the LCD display.
I was wondering if you could suggest the best method to wire it up, so that when the inputs are triggered the messages show on the LCD display.
Thanks
Marc
Edit - ( i think i have put this in the wrong section by mistake, sorry )

The inputs must be connected to ground to display the according message.

Thanks for your reply,
Yes I know that if I connect any of the inputs to the Black or white ground wires the messages are displayed.
But in the Manual it states that the inputs can be triggered via Open collector, Dry contact or TTL logic levels.
I just wondered if anyone else had successfully triggered the inputs using one of these methods.

This works fine.
Please describe the nature of your problem.
If necessary, provide a picture (diagram).

Here is the Circuit Diagram -
when 6 volts is fed into the Base of the Transistor through the resistor, the collector will supply 0V because of the Pullup resistor. when 0 volts is fed into the base of the transistor 6V will be fed to the K8045.
When i connect this output to the K8045 nothing happens.
I hope this helps.

Did you connect the ground of this system to the ground of the K8045?

Ahhh that could be the problem, no i didnt.
I will try that and see if it works.
Thanks for your reply.
