Hello. I have a mosfet 8040 power amplifier and it has worked great until now. It was on standby and I unplugged the pre input and the speakers and smelled something burning. I checked and it would not turn on. I checked and the fuse was blown. I connected it to my new processor replaced the fuse and it blew again. I checked the power cords and they are fine. I opened the amplifier and the wiring looks fine - no visible shorts. Any idea what happened? Is there anything I can do?
Measure if the output transistors are in short circuit.
The amp is equipped with an integrated power stage, so there is not much you can do other than replacing the power stage.
Make sure to check if the protection triac is not faulty aswel.
Ok. Thanks. I ordered a New chip. Doug
