Hi, made a light control system up out of 3 times K8006 + 15 times K8037 and 4 times K8046 (cross wired).
All works fine.
Have now tried to replace some halogen and standard light bulbs by power saving lamps (spaarlampen for the dutch guys).
Now I came to this problem: they won’t start up.
Due to the build-in soft start feature for halogen lamps in the K8037.
So my question: is there an update/different software available where that soft-start feature is not present or can be disabled?
Tried this with a normal old dimmer from a halogen uplighter:
After the power saving lamps stays on for about 2 minutes (warm up), they are perfectly dimmable (within boundaries)… only they need instant full power to ignite…
So, Velleman think about it, this feature can be usefull for others too, as halogen and normal lamps are disappearing (at least in Belgium…)!
Kind regards
Please note that energy saving lamps are not suited for dimming. It might ‘seem’ to work, but the life cycle of both lamps and dimmer is very likely to be short. Basically, it is ‘not done’ to dim such lamps. There are types available that can be dimmed with a normal leading edge dimmer.
The simple power saving lamps we buy in the store aren’t made for dimming. They only work at full voltage.
But such lamps do exist.
For example, when you put domotica into your house, the EIB standard, you can opt for any brand of such dimmable lamps. Then you can program the switches so, you can turn on and off the lamps with a short click of the button and dimming up and down when holding the button pushed.
If these dimmable lamps are sold for domotica, they should be on the market to use separately also.
PS. The power saving lamps of today are just a smaller version of the TL’s which exists for many decades now. OLD:
