My K8031 kit Digital storage scope is giving some problems.
When doing the calibration, it gives a fault: lpt communication error.
Also the buttons for choosing the vertical sensitivity function wrong.
When choosing 1V/div the signal is displayed with 0.3 V/div.
Choosing 0.3V/div gives a sensitivity of 1 V/div.
Choosing 0.1 V/div gives a sensitivity of 3 V/div.
And so on for the other buttons…
Also the neutral position of the line changes very much when another sensitivity is chosen.
Although the scope can still be used i would like to fix this…
I have already tried another computer and downloaded the newest PClab2000 software, with no result.
Does anyone have an idea what is wrong with this scope?
PCS100 is not equal to K8031.
There are some hardware and the software differences between the kit version K8031 and the ready built version PCS100.
It seems that you have used PCS100 button ?
You have the kit version K8031 of this oscilloscope. The same front panel is used also in the factory built version PCS100.
Please click the K8031 button at the startup screen of the PCLAB2000SE software.
The scope should then work OK.
You have to run the calibration.
Thanks for your reply.
Wauw, would the solution be so simple
I have already studied the schematic diagram and checked several components
Never really looked at these buttons, always just pushed the ok-button assuming it was called a PCS100
Anyway, just started it up again and after pushing the K8031-button and ok-button it says: “missing file K8031.exe”.
The file is not in the directory and i can’t find it at the Velleman-site?
What now?
Strange that the file is missing.
To get it back you have to run again the SETUP.EXE you downloaded from the Velleman site.
Please note: Do not move the Pc_Lab2000se.exe to other folder or on desktop. It should be run in the same folder where installed.
(Normally C:\Program Files\Velleman\PC-Lab2000SE.)
When doing the calibration it said calibration fail.
I did the tuning stuf and still had a calibration fault.
I did the tuning-stuf twice again and had to smuggle a bit with the potmeter for adjusting the vertical zero 8)
And now all is working just perfect.
Thank you again.
BTW, Are you personnel of the Velleman corporation?
