I built this kit and it functions as advertised but the playback has a low level buzz or humm that is very distracting. I have checked the soldering and there aren’t any shorts.

Removing the mic and supply resistor and connecting the device to the line out of a PC can solve this problem, however, it is not a hifi device, so there will always be a little noise.
