My Transformer (TR8020) is dead (one of the windings has shorted) and i’m having problems trying to source a new one within or to be shipped to the UK.
I tried ordering one from Qkits but they refunded me saying that they can no longer ship this item outside of their country.
I’m having to use an old Nad amp as my preamp and it’s horrible! I need my valve one back up and running asap!
Please can someone help/tell me where i can get a new one from?
…Also when i do replace it, should i be awear of any other components that might have been affected?
There must be a reason for the transformer to short, so please check the power supply section of your K8020 carefully.
For best results, we’d recommend to return the complete kit for inspection/repair.
Returning the transformer is fine.
Estimated transformer cost is about 35 euros.
Sorry, we cannot tell exactly how much shipping and handling will cost.
You will receiver an invoice before the goods are returned.
I have the same problem (what’s going on with those trafos by the way?). I’m from Poland and my local distributor (AVT) can’t help me. They say they sell just kits, and have no spare parts for them. Can you help me and provide with new one TR8020? How to place an order for it? Thank you in advance for quick answer.
Careful: A support forum is a place where people come when they have a problem.
The hundreds of people that own a K8020 which works fine don’t post this on the forum, so you might get the wrong impression.
Anyway, please see my previous post on this issue.
Sorry, no direct sales.
You can return the defective transformer for inspection/exchange together with proof of purchase to:
Thank you for your answer. My impression is maybe wrong, but I met some people with the same problem as mine.
Anyway I’ll send you my trafo, but I’m not sure if I have proof of purchase, because I bougt K8020 few years ago and guarantee is not valid anymore. All I want is to pay for new TR8020 and get is asap.
By the way, availability of spare parts at local distributors is not bad idea, really. Regards.
