K8012 problems with 12Ah lead-acid battery

Hi,

First problem is with the supplied resistor R6 which has the value 100K instead 270K. As I saw in other topics, also other people complained about this resistor supplied in the kit.

Second problem is that, even if I succeded to pass the tests from the manual for this kit, I got a problem with charging. This kit is charging my 12Ah lead acid battery without telling me if the battery is fully charged. I mean this battery keeps charging even after more than 48 hours.

From the manual:

  • Approx charging time (hours) = (battery capacity (Ah) / charging current (A)) x 1.2

which, in my case is:

  • Approx charging time (hours) = (12 / 1) x 1.2 = 14.4 hours.

but my battery keeps charging since 2 days ago and the “Fully Charged” indicator (green led) is still off.

Why don’t you specify that this kit works only with batteries smaller than 10Ah? Why don’t you specify this before we buy it?

Please help me with this problem. How should I modify the kit to work with 12Ah batteries or with batteries greater than 12Ah?

Any help is welcome. Thank you.

First I wanna say that this charger works, it disconnects the battery when is fully charged because after more than 48 hours of charging I measured the battery voltage and it had 7.40 Volts (the battery is lead-acid - 6V 12 Ah) so this means that the charging works fine, only the “Charging Status Indicator” has problems.

I found something interesting… if you disconnect the battery from the charger and then reconnect it, the “intelligent charger” shows that the battery is fully charged. But this happens only after you disconnect the battery and then reconnect it, or push the on/off button of the intelligent charger.
I think the part of the kit who is responsable with showing the status of charging has problems with this, so we need to make our own “refresh”. How do we do this i’m not very sure, but one thing I had in mind was to search for this part and try to disconnect the inputs from the battery for 1 second and then reconnect the inputs, and maybe this would be a solution (maybe do this from 5 to 5 minutes to have a “status refresh” at every 5 minutes).

Who wants to give me another solution is very welcome. Please write your own opinions about this.

Hi,

So what did you do about R6  I just bought this kit and came across same issue.

Also, hoping that it will work with 6v12AH SLA batteries which I have many of them.
Have you contacted Veleman support?
