Windows XP SP2 (using Parallel PCI extended card) and/or Windows Vista (motherboard LPT port).
The K8000 card is Master and no other card and printer are present on LPT port.
I’ve already installed: DLPORT IO driver.
I’m testing the interface with your soft Win_NT_2000_XP_test_soft.
I’ve done all pasive tests ‘recomended’ on the user manual (nothing is connected to LPT port):
With Mains N and L connected to 220Ac, no leds are ON.
The voltage on testpin +5V is present.
If I connect the test points from 1 to 16 one by one with earth test pin, the led from the respective channel is lighted up correctly.
As soon as I connect the interface to the printer port, and try test soft:
WinXP SP2 Computer: SCL led is always ON.
No one DigitalOutput can be setted to ON (I assume that a DO set to 1, should be represented with his led ON). Here is the problem added that the parallel addreses are not available because the Parallel port is at a PCI extension card.
Could it be posible to have your test software with the range ports of the extended PCI card?
WinVista Computer: Both leds: SDA and SCL are ON but very soft light. Here the LPT por is integrated on motherboard, but no one Output can be setted to ON
I only need to have available the DO; is there any kind of test that I can do to know where could be the issue?
You can use the DLL procedure SetI2CprinterPortAddress of the updated DLL.
You can download the updated K8D.DLL and K8E.EXE from: box.net/shared/1txhmu1by6
Copy both files to Windows’ SYSTEM32 folder and to your application folder.
Usage (if the LPT port address is e.g. D080):
In Visual Basic VB6.0: SetI2CprinterPortAddress &hD080
In Delphi: SetI2CprinterPortAddress($D080);
In C: SetI2CprinterPortAddress(0xD080);

Sorry, I forgot to tell you that I already read that topic, and also downloaded the new files.
I’ve tried it again it in my WinVista PC (the XP SP2 will be available in a few days again). I’ve replaced again K8D.DLL and K8E.EXE from Windows system32 and also that ones from the ‘test soft’ folder.
Configuration tested:
LPT Port on MotherBoard.
Port is LPT1.
Adress: 378-37F.
Firstly I connect ‘Mains’ to 220Vac, then I conect the parallel cable. After Starting the PC, all leds are OFF.
After that, I start K8000 test software:
K8E.exe and K8000.exe in WinXP SP2 compatibility.
Leds SCL and SDA are blinking very lightly, but nothing else reacts at the interface board.
If I change the Adress at the K8000 software, then both leds stop blinking.
Is there other thing I could test or I should take in consideration?
It seems that there is not LPT communication problem. There must be some other problem on the board.
Sorry that I can’t help in this case.
You may return the board to Velleman for checking.
I want now to isolate my board. I saw somewhere a recomended housing for the k8000, but I can’t find it now.
Could you tell me which could be a recomended housing for the k8000.
