K8000 not workinng

Hi every one.

I have this brand new K8000. but it wont do anything.

I have tryed every test as specified in the manual. every thing seams OK. when I connect it to a computer (I have tryed it on 2 diferent computers with different cables) the 3 led (LED 17, 18 & 19) light-up and remains fixed (no blinking what so ever).

my computers run windows XP 32bit. the lpt port is intagrated to the mother board. and I checked the port address (0x378).

I don’t know what more to try.

What mode is your LPT in? See BIOS. Don’t know how the K8000 communicates but the most compatible DOS way is setting the port to SPP in the BIOS.

Have you installed and run this software on the CD located in the folder “Win NT 2000 XP test soft”?:

When run, the LD17, LD18 and LD19 should start to flash lightly.

in bios, my parallel port mode has 3 options witch are :
[ul]ECP+EPP (was set as default.)
Bi-directionnal
and normal.
[/ul]

witch one do you suggest I should use ?
I have tried normal and the default without any success.
(I didn’t have time to try the third option and right now I dont have the possibility to try it.)

in response to VEL255, that is the first soft I have tried. since then. I tried a few other downloaded from the net.
and even tryed the dos version from the CD. (booting on a usb dos and every thing.)

but had no luck with any of thoses.

Any other suggestions ?

if I stick a led directly in the parallel port pin + on line 17 and the - on line 18 and then run the test program. shouldn’t it blink ?

The LPT port mode should not be very critical.
I tested with a desktop PC the following modes: Bi-Directional, EPP and ECP.
The K8000 works well in all modes (in Windows XP).

Have you checked the printer port cable?
There should be all 25 pins wired straight through.

OH !!! my …

How could I miss this ? the cables I am using has a few crossed lines.

I’ll let you know how things are going with a straight through cable.
Thanks for pointing my eyes to the right place.

AND IT WORKS !!!

Thanks all for your time and effort.

Now I need to get it working under Linux.

Any one have a recent experience of it working with a Linux box ?

to use the K8000 with linux, I found this :

github.com/Maescool/libk8000

it works like a charm !! and verry easy to use.

Thanks any to any one hwo took time to help me.
