K8000+k8005

Hi all,

Nowadays I’m working on a project where I am planning on using the k8005 stepper motor controller combined with the k8000 interface card.
The k8005 comes with a stepper motor which needs 12V and is claimed as a ‘precision’ motor. Can someone give me more details on this stepper motor? Dimensions, torque, stepsize (degrees) etc.
I also read that the k8005 cannot be programmed when using a OS > Win98. The k8000 can be programmed when using XP if you got the correct driver (‘driverLINX portIO driver’ from bv systems). When programmed correctly in the k8000, the k8005 can still be configured through the k8000?
I’m also planning on using two light sensors, these use a I2C protocol for the communication. So it is a lightintensity-to-digital sensor. Can I put these sensors directly in the digitalports (IOxx) on the k8000?

Thanks,

Thijs

If you can communicate with with the K8000, you should be able to send K8005 commands.

Digital I/O of K8000 are intended for switching, not for communication.

Thanks!
