K6501 works with 12V dc?

K6501

I’d like to know if it’s possible to make this item work with a 12V dc power supply (only battery powersupply available). Thank you

At first sight I would say yes because the AC is never needed as a clock or like.

Hi,

You may want to go a little higher then 12vDC as it will go through a full wave bridge rectifier and that will knock the voltage down a little.

Mayme 13 - 13.5 volts.

Thank you for your reply. I just need to make sure the following: the specifications of this product suggests that powersupply is “Alimentation : 12 Vac / 300mA” .
Vac in my mind means of course ALTERNATE CURRENT. So if I want to use 12Vdc (direct current from battery) for powersupply i will need to bypass a transformer if any and diode bridge , right ? Is this ok for all circuits after the diode bridge?
Thanks again for the follow-up

You can connect your 12 V DC behind the diode bridge if you like. Ofcourse aa AC-transformer should be removed from the 12 V DC input. But why you talk about a transformer when you want to work with a battery?

As far as I do’nt have bought yet a K6501 item, I have no idea about the power supply concept. Since I read that the input voltage is 12 Vac , I have concluded that a transformer could be included in the power supply circuit … that’s all.
So from our discussion I conclude

  1. that there is no transformer build-in,
  2. the circuits basic voltage is 12V dc
  3. this allows me to replace without any probleme the diode bridge with a 12 dc source.

With no reply from your side, I will conclude that this is right.
Thank you for your support.

This is correct.
