I assembled the k4003 kit and as far as i can tell it has been constructed correctly. However when you power it up it only stays on for a few seconds and then ceases to output any sound. The chip does not heat up in this time and the error is repeatable by power cycling. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks much
Most likely there is a problem with the MUTE-circuit.
Check your assembly in that area.
I checked the mute area, but i dont see any shorts. Any other ideas?

We have no experience with this problem.
What about the power supply. Could it be that it is not within specs, which causes the unit to go in protection mode?
The transformer im using is 12-0-12 at 2 amps it actually runs about 14.5 vac. I see what you mean about there not seeming to be a lot that could go wrong. perhaps the ic? again any help would be much appreciated. thanks again.
Also just wanted to add that upon further review it appears that after the 3 sec that it plays audio it does not power off totally because i can hear a slight hum in the speakers. just thought it might help.

If you are positive that the IC is at cause, you can return it to us for inspection/exchange

I can not say anything in regard to the IC with total certainty, but i looked at the other variables and do not see an issue. Just trying to find an answer without having to play the back and forth game via mail.
