K4001 Help!

I have made this kit, and everything is making contact. I have a 4ohm 4watt speaker, an input jack, and a power socket, fit for an adapter which i have plugged into the mains. I am chucking 12v into the circuit, but nothing is happening. Measuring accross the power terminals i get 12v, but over the speaker terminals i get nothing. For some reason it is not working. The heatsink on the IC is getting hot so i cant figure out the problem.

Any suggestions?

Because the heatsink get’s hot, there must be a short circuit ?
Check the complete PCB again, and maybe also exchange the IC.

surely the whole point of the heatsink is so that it conducts heat away from the IC. It doesn’t get really hot just a little warm. All contacts are good
