I have built a k3503 car amplifier. It recently came back from Velleman because it had to be repaired. When I hooked it up today there was no output on the speakers and there was a strange hissing noise coming from the PCB. I checked all the voltages and everything checked out okay. I can’t understand why it got sent back and it was “repaired” yet I cant get anything to come out of it.
The hissing noise comes from the switch-mode supply.
It is wrong to assume that our service dept. would return an item and claim it has been fixed when this is not the case.
Please check the documents that came with your repaired item. They indicate the actions that have been performed by the repair dept.
Check the wiring and the input signal. If the problem persist, you can return your amp. There is a warranty on all repair, if the same fault occurs.
The wiring amp inputs are all good, as I have tested with a known good working amp. So the hissing sound is normal then? I don’t need to worry about the amp burning up? Do you have any suggestions as to why I can’t get ANYTHING from the outputs on the amp?? Thanks
If an identical amp works fine with the existing wiring then we have to assume that there is a problem with the amp.
We suggest you return the amp for inspection/repair. If you decide to do so, please mention that this is the second time it is returned.
It was not an identical amp, but it was a known good working spare amp. Once I hooked it up, I had no problems. I could not get anything from the Velleman amplifier. Maybe the 5-pin din cable wasnt the right input cable? Where could I find the proper line/input cable to connect RCA jacks into from the stereo?
