K2543 Electronic Ignition

I have built the K2543 Electronic Ignition Module with the 6V modifications.
I am running this on a single cylinder motorcycle engine without a distributor.
The motorcycle was running well before I installed the unit and had correct timing.

With the EI module installed the bike will start and will run ok at idle (“tick over”-UK).

When any revs are applied it starts to break down and stutters and coughs and becomes very erratic as if the timing was completely out, however this motorcycle was never fitted with any ignition advance mechanism and runs well without the Velleman module.

I did even try tweaking the timing but the situation did not improve.

Currently the module is not encased in an enclosure and I wondered whether the high voltage \ RF from the coil and rest of the ignition circuit could cause the transistors to become erratic and whether the K2543 should be enclosed in a metal enclosure to stop this?

OR can you point me in another direction to cure this problem.

btw: The battery is fully charged and we have about 6.4V input voltage, I even added a 4A battery charger in case the current was too low.

Question to other experts on this forum…
Is there a way of making this kit work with a positive earth electrical system?

Are you sure the cap. is removed from the breaker ?

Yes the capacitor is definitely removed.

We are sorry, but we are unable to troubleshoot this problem from a distance. If you have a scope at hand, you might want to check the waveform at the input of the kit, both when the engine is idling and when you increase the # of revs. This will give a clue of what is going on. Without a scope it will be difficult, not to say impossible…
