I just put kit K2543 together, but in the instruction I read that Transistor T1 should be mounted flat to the PCB.
In my case, transistor T1 is not flat against the board; it is appr. 1 cm above the board (and touching the heatsink).
Does the T1 has to be flat on the board? and if so, why?
Does the kit not function when it is not mounted flat on the board?
Is it a problem that it touches the heatsink? or is it just enough to put some insulation tape in between.
Please check manual page 5 item 6.
It shows that the transistor is mounted away from the PCB, against the heatsink and that it is isolated from the heatsink.
Sorry for the confusion.
Did not realize that there could be a problem with this transistor.
Should be mounted against the PCB. Why would you do it differently ?
It will work, but against the PCB is better from an engineering point of view.
It may not touch the heatsink.
Because the "legs"of this transistor are long enough to mount it “high” (1 ~ 1,5 cm above the board).
This is my 1st solder-experience and I’m not familiar with the correct mounting-instructions.
Than I probably leave it as it is right now, instead of "fixing"it (and maybe ruin it).
When you say it will work this way, I leave it this way.
(Btw, what is “an engineering point of view” ?
Right now, it touches the heatsink, but I will put some tape on the heatsink where the transistor touches.
Hope this is enough. (please let me know if not)
