k 8000

Hi,
Seasons greetings!

I have a k8000 which was not used for some time and now when connected, initially did light up communication LEDs 17, 18 & 19 . However, after I installed the k8000 in a box these LEDS do not light up and also the relay activation click is not heard. The voltage regulator 7850 gets extremely hot. The tests given in the manual did light up all 16 LEDS and also the voltage was when tested as specified in the manual.

I it possible that IC 21 has been blown off or other short circuit? pl. can any one help to pin point the problem
Thank you & Regds

Was the problem directly after power-on or did it took a while?

Always dust of cards that haven’t been used recently. (I blew up my computer that way).

The 74LS125 is a Quad 3-state buffer, a logical IC, I don’t think the problem is that IC. I’ve short-circuited a lot of IC’s (by accident) and the only one’s witch broke were the Voltage Regulators. Check them fore holes.

Also check youre board for any loose paths or bad connection. Maybe it got damaged by puttin git in a box.

Did you do this tests while the 7805 got hot?

Hi,

Thanks Tom. Partly solved the problem.

Had a connection problem on the 15va transformer leg. Communications LEDs are ok now howver, the 7805 gets extremly hot ( dont think it should to such extent ).

Also, having problem with WIndows XP . Connection not detected by WINPLC. DId load the driver .dll in sy32 folder.

ANy suggestions to solve this problem.

I had the same problem for a long time.

You have to make sure that the following files are in the same folder as your program is.

K8D.dll
DLPORTIO.dll
DLPORTIO.sys
Fasttime32.dll
K8E.exe

It could be that it works with fewer files, i didn’t test that.
On my computer, i installed a little program (self made) that on startup, turns on every led of the K8000. The DLL’s are loaded in my RAM and therefore i can use the K8000 without these files in the program folder.

Fore the 7805 —> maybe it’s broken
