Just... stopped mid-print! Repetier 1.5.6 [pic]

Hello everyone,

So I’ve been printing on and off with this printer, recently started to print much more complex objects taking 1-2+ hours. For the loner print jobs, the printer just stops mid-print. There doesn’t appear to be an error (tho I’m not sure), but it just stops and the extruder head sits on the model and chars the model a bit. In other words, the head doesn’t retract and the heaters stay on. Repetier 1.5.6 is not frozen, there doesn’t appear to be any other issues.

I scoured the internet for issues with Repetier, others have the same issue, some say its a USB cable. I don’t think so. Tried the usual stuff, reboot computer, restart the printer, different cable, different USB port … still does it.

I just completely reinstalled Repetier, will have results tomorrow. Anyone experience this problem?

Here is my setup:

In case anyone is wondering, that CAD application is onShape, cloud based CAD. Pretty slick.

Also wanted to mention that it seems to stop mid print at various points, not always the same layer even on the same model. It’ll do this for multiple models … often for longer prints.

Found this thread that has some useful information, though they are referring to an older version of Repeptier (0.8X).

Hey guys,

So it happened again. So far I tried cold boot computer and printer, uninstall and reinstall Repetier 1.5.6, remove unwanted programs on the computer, close all programs, disable sleep / hibernate.

It appears that Repetier is getting a stop signal from the board:
"
Printer reset detected - initializing
Start
echo: Brown out Reset
"

Power supply problem?

Anyone know how to start printing from a specific layer in Repetier 1.5.6?

The “Brown out reset” message means the printer had a power failure during print.

Do you use the stock power supply and have the headtbed on?
If so, the stock supply is easily overpowered and thus shuts down due to overheating.

The only reliable way to fix that is to use a second (24v is best) power supply for the heatbed.

Thanks for your comment, your suggestion worked!

Yes I used the stock power supply for my K8200. Its a Velleman.eu 15V 100W powersupply and it gets smokin’ hot after a while.

I disabled the heat bed and I was able to complete a 2.5 hour print.

With the heat bed on full, I can print small stuff – 5-20 minutes or so. But anything longer than 40-50 minutes it would eventually give me a brown-out error.

I’m not 100% sure this issue is resolved. Will make some other large prints and test it.

Too bad I can’t do a dry run test.

Thank you again for your response.

And for anyone else searching out a solution to a brown out error / reset, here is another thread I started at the Rep Rap forum
