Just checking for a connection... :-)

Hi all,

Just to ask for your experience on this…

I’ve just cleared another blocked nozzle - Seems I’m getting the hang of it: it’s quickly solved, these days.

But it struck me, that the blockage occurred again on the right side extruder, that is running blue (Velleman PLA) filament. I can’t really remember having had a blockage with the left extruder, that’s running the same red filament.

What’s your experience on blockages & different filaments? Could there be a relation? Or is this a little paranoid?
Would the materials used to fabricate a specific color have impact on the extrusion properties?

Let me know your experiences & thoughts on this, please.

Thanks & cheers,
Harry D.

It is also possible that when the same nozzle is always blocking that there is a small problem with the PTFE tube inside the nozzle…

The main cause for a clogged nozzle is the softening of the filament just before the nozzle input : mostly due to too high temperatures. And the optimal ones can vary with the brand and color of the filament. So try printing with a lower temperature. And while you’re at it check the flow parameter (if your extruder is clicking even slightly, it means the flow is too high).

You could try printing at 190C with PLA
Change the retraction to 4mm and speed to 110

Thanks for the suggestions, all!

To clarify, it’s not even that the nozzle clogs up that often… It’s just the idea that if one clogs up, it’s always the same one.

I’ll check the ptfe tube & play around with the indicated parameters - see what that will bring.

On a side note: from where I’m looking, this issue seems to relate to the other thread, where there’s also talk about rather specific profiles per color.

Please also see my post there - I think, if we can get more reliable results, using different optimisations for the various colors (within the Velleman brand, even), investigating & publishing those profiles would be beneficial to the user community.

Cheers,
