I've blown my K8055 after 2 days!

Ok, I’ve been programming for years, and have decided to get into “proper” electronics. As a first “home” project, I’m attempting to use the board to control some LED’s. Now as far as components go, I’m a complete newbie, and I decided to … cough experiment a little.

And I’ve shorted something on the board.

I managed to hit the terminals on SK2 (un-jumpered) with an LED - I’m now in the “Out 3 flashes twice and stays on” situation.

FYI, Windows reported that USB power had been exceeded. I’ve since tested the board in two PC’s, a lappy and a tower. The only message I now get is “USB device unrecognised”.

Looking through previous posts it’s pretty obvious that I’ve blown at least one component on the board.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to track down the dead part(s)?

Thanks in advance!

PS… My first post! Great introduction to a new forum, eh?

Oooooo-kaaay…

This get even more embarrassing!

After rebooting the lappy… The board is working fine!

I obviously hadn’t loaded the drivers on the laptop.

Sorry 'bout that!

Please don’t burn your house down while experimenting
