Installing software k8056

Hi,

I installed the software of the k8056, but
when i try to open the setup1.exe i get: invalid command-line parameters
and when i try to open the k8056.exe i get a run-time error ‘8002’
what do i have to do to make the software run?

either you have no com-ports, they are not working, they are in use or they are not COM1 or COM2

Well, nowadays it’s not unusual, that COM1 and COM2 are already occupied, as also in my case. I don’t want to take any risk in reconfiguring ports for really good reasons. Why is that demo not able to use higher COM#?

Who can provide me some demo program that works with COM5? I cannot do it myself, because I never did any programming so far. But I wonder, if a hardware provider can afford to lose people like me as a customer and loyal promoter.

I don’t want to read any excuses. I will sell my K8056 at a price, which hurts the market price, as others already do on ebay.
So it’s time to take a little care for customer satisfaction. In my eyes it’s so far a product, which doesn’t work and I really feel cheated.

Having done all the soldering on my own, I expect a demo program download not to take even more time to become functional. It’s like a car without tyres. Oh, we must have left them at the garage. Go and get your tyres somewhere else. It’s not too hard to find any out there.

You are correct, you should be able to enter the COM port that you have, for example “COM23”.

I believe the software, installer and the kit itself are simply getting too old. The demo software is written in Visual Basic 6, and RS232 ports are getting rarer. I will need to consult with the developers on what the plans are for this product to be able to give you a solution. The newer relay cards are K8090 (usb relay card) and VM204 (ethernet relay card), these are much more contemporary products.

Thanks for the answer. My dilemma is, that I’m using the K8056 especially for a project, in which I want to make use of a very ancient computer, an apple //c. This machine slept for many years and shall have a revival as model railroad controller for a small layout on my shelf. This is the reason, why I have to stick to the RS232 and want to. Unfortunately I can’t download any useful sourcecode from anywhere, although this computer would be capable to take over such tasks since 1983. So I was pretty much surprised, that not even with a contemporary computer I was able to do some testing of this card. The product seems lost somewhere inbetween eras of different computers. I will need another two of these cards, but only if I manage to really use them with a program written in Applesoft Basic.

I understood, that the source code of this test program should be available somewhere. The only thing I found in the operation guide were some explanations about the commands, which need to be sent to the card for certain effects. As I’m not really experienced in programming, I now need to find someone, who can do so. Otherwise I need to use a separate win 95 PC and install the test software there exclusively. This doesn’t really seem useful to me.
