I think i broke my new k8400:(

Hi everyone.

Im new to this site and new to build printers, so be nice:) I did everything by the book for the k8400.
But when i first plug in the power my head was in another place,i did forgot to switch from 100-120 VAC to 200-240 VAC.
Big smoke came from under the printer, i unplug it, and tske the batteri out of my firedetector…DAME!!!

Then i switch it to 200-240 VAC and plug in the power, and i works, but not so good.
Install the new firmware.

The problem is that the nozzle dont heat up, the red led on the nozzle is always on, and if i use preheat nothing…
If i try to load filament, the printe goes exakly the same way when i do the “auto home” then stops.
On the lcd the temp is 0.0 and showes “mintemp”

I can move the steppers, and the auto home works to.
When i plug in the power, on green led is on the power supply, and one green and one red on the cpu.
If i use preheat, another red led turns on on the cpu, and the fans start to spin.

So do you think its the power supply or the cpu that needs to be replace? Or someting else?

So sorry about your misshap.
Try to measure the voltage from the power supply both when the printer is idle and when you try to heat the hot end.
They should be just about the same.

Hi monza64.

Thanks for the input, i will try this. And i get back whit the result.

Its 15v from the power supply, when i start the preheat it the same, 15v.

Maby its the card that is broken?

Hi,

You should first check the controller board for some burned element (as smoke came from the printer, something must not have resisted the over-voltage.
We can assume the CPU is ok as you can get some functions running.
one green and one red on the cpu.
Only the green led should be lit. Check where the red led is.
On the lcd the temp is 0.0 and showes “mintemp”
This means there’s no reading of the temperature : either the Thermistor or its command circuit is malfunctioning (fried or incorrectly plugged in).
The heater won’t heat if there’s an “error mintemp”. It’s a fail-safe.

I got it to work, it was the wire to the nozzle that was in the wrong way.

I try to feed the filament, but the temp dont go över 195, its set to 210.
I did set it to 195 then the filamen did go in, but it came out like a big blub instedd if a string?

Whats the temp i need to get for pla?

And one more thing, my x-axes goes to far, so det stepper make a realy bad sound when it goes to auto home.
Where can i adjust this in the settings?

For PLA 190° is enough.

For your Axis first check the alignment procedure in the Wiki
.

I got my printer to work:)

Thanks for all the replys, really appreciated!!
