Hi this takes 10-30V DC and a max of 10mA.
How do I power it? Ideally I would like to power it by a wall wart however I cannot find any that only deliver 10mA. They all do 500 or so.
Any ideas? I want to power it from mains and not batteries.
Thanks
OK, some basics:
10mA is the consumption of the kit.
500mA is the max. current that the adaptor can deliver.
If the adaptor is connected to the kit, it will deliver 10mA. You can always use an adaptor that is able to supply more current, not less.
Voltage is a different story, this has to be correct.
The adapter was a 12V DC / 500mA. When I attached it, it burnt and cracked the IC chip!
I checked all components and they are all seated correctly with correct polarity. The chip was also in the correct direction.
Why then, did the IC chip blow? I have replaced the chip but do not want to blow it again. Any advice?
Here is a picture of my board:
Either you applied AC or you’ve inverted polarity.
I do not understand. All the polaritys are correct on the board according to the manual (check my picture of the board!).
The adapter I used says 12v DC / 500mA. Not AC.
I have made sure and the DC socket it wired with the correct polarity also.
Should I be able to run this off 2 9v batteries (giving 18v)?
I just tried a 9v DC / 100mA power supply as well and got the same problem of the chip overheating like crazy.
