How to connect with VM167?

Hi all!

I use vm167 and one of the problems as follows:
Please, open and check my image

I use two functions:

  1. Read analog input (read voltage from potentiometer)
  • I use potentiometer (VR=1K) and 5V on board (J6) as a source of supply.
  • Analog signal is connected to AI1 pin
  1. Counter
  • I use switch and 5V on board (J6) as reference source
  • Digital signal (pulse) is connected to DI/O1 pin
    My questions:
  1. In my model, Can the 5V on board enough supply for above 2 functions?
  2. In counter, Need I use reference sources?
  3. Limit on the length of the USB cable?

Thank in advance!

Now you are short circuiting the USB supply via the switch!
You should add a resistor (1k…10k) between J6 and DI1.
Or change the switch between J6 and DI1.
See usermanual p.20: “Single button connected between external +5V and digital input.”

Then there is no problem to supply the circuit from the USB.

Thank you very much!

  1. As you say:

    Is it right?
  2. I have 1 more question
Limit on the length of the USB cable?

Best Regards,

The current consumption of the VM167 is very low.
I think there is no limit for the USB cable if you use a ‘good’ cable.
E.g. a cable labeled something like: “USB 2.0 CABLE FULLY RATED 30V 80°C”.
